Express train No. 3621 from Sofia to Burgas left 80 minutes late this morning, and the delay had grown to 90 minutes by 8am, data on the website of Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) show.

The train is due to leave Sofia at 6am and reach Burgas at noon. Listeners of Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) in Burgas reported the delay. BDZ said the train was waiting for a set of carriages.

Express train No. 8611 from Iskar to Burgas also left 80 minutes late. It is due to leave Iskar station at 6.55am and arrive in Burgas at 1.12pm. A BNR check found it was waiting for a connection from another train.

Sofia Central Station said the timetable was disrupted and there was no power in the overhead line.

On 2 November we reported that, because of the rebuilding of the Sofia rail junction, tracks 1 to 11 at Central Station are closed until 19 March 2027, and some trains to Burgas leave from Iskar and Poduyane stations.

BDZ expects more delays on this route. It added that repairs are under way on several sections of the rail network and timetables may change.
