The second compulsory matriculation exam in a profiling subject and the state vocational qualification exam from the August-September session are taking place today, the press center of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) announced.

The exams are intended for high school graduates who were not admitted to previous sessions, missed them for certain reasons, or received a failing grade. They begin at 8:30 a.m., and students must be at their schools at least 30 minutes earlier.

On August 21, the state matriculation exam in Bulgarian language and literature was held. At that time, graduates chose between an interpretative essay on the topic "Man between the simplicity and complexity of existence," based on Atanas Dalchev's "Prayer," or an essay on the topic "The limits of freedom."

Additional state matriculation exams at the students' request are scheduled for August 25. The Ministry of Education and Science informs that the results from the session will be announced by September 4, inclusive.

According to data from a press conference held by the Ministry of Education and Science on June 10, the average score from the Bulgarian language and literature matriculation exam during the May-June session was 60 points, which equates to a "Good" 4.39. At that time, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Dr. Tanya Pancheva pointed out that this was the highest result since 2008. The average score from the second matriculation exam in a profiling subject was 71.09 points, or a "Very Good" 4.89.
