A 69-year-old man from Kameno who was hurt in a crash on the road between the village and the Trakia motorway has a superficial head wound and has been allowed to recover at home, police in Burgas (ODMVR) said.

Early reports had said something different: that a 68-year-old driver was in critical condition and the most seriously hurt in the crash. Those reports said he was cut out of the crushed car and rushed to the shock room at Burgas University Hospital, where doctors fought for his life.

According to Burgas police, the man was driving a Toyota RAV4 from Kameno towards the Trakia motorway when a Toyota Hilux hit it from behind.

The first reports also gave a different place and direction. They said the crash happened under the Trakia motorway overpass, on the road to Kameno, and that the man was driving towards the village.

Witnesses initially said the driver saw several people picking walnuts by the road and stopped to pick some himself.

They said he braked hard and at once began reversing without checking that the road behind him was clear. He hit a Toyota that was following him.

Witnesses said the second car is 2-3 months old and was damaged in the crash.
