Italian Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto will arrive for an official visit to Bulgaria tomorrow, September 14. He will be hosted by Bulgarian Minister of Defence Dimitar Stoyanov, with the welcoming ceremony organized at the Bezmer Air Base, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence.
The working agenda of the foreign guest includes a meeting with the Italian military contingent based at the Novo Selo training ground. This unit is an integral part of the NATO Multinational Battlegroup in our country, for which Italy serves as the framework nation. During his time at the air base, Dimitar Stoyanov and Guido Crosetto will hold bilateral talks accompanied by their delegations, after which the two are scheduled to make brief official statements to the media representatives.
Cooperation between Sofia and Rome in the defence sector has a history. Last December, Guido Crosetto and outgoing Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov signed an intergovernmental agreement. The contract regulates the joint construction and subsequent use of military infrastructure in the Kabile area. It is important to note that their previous meeting was also held on the territory of the Bezmer Air Base.
