The administrative head of the District Prosecutor's Office in Burgas, Georgi Chinev, has been officially nominated as an elected member of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) from the prosecutors' quota, the institution announced. His candidacy was put forward by magistrates from the Appellate, District, and Regional Prosecutor's Offices in Burgas, who cited his significant professional experience and high moral standards as justification.

In their reasoning, Chinev's colleagues highlighted his ability to maintain working relationships based on trust and mutual understanding, as well as his skill in objectively analyzing different viewpoints. According to the magistrates, Chinev is an erudite professional with proven integrity and a strong sense of justice, who consistently upholds the principles of the rule of law. They emphasized that he holds both his colleagues and himself to the same high standards in their professional activities. The proposal also noted his achievements as a supervising prosecutor in specific pre-trial proceedings, as well as his ability to create excellent work organization within the District and Regional Prosecutor's Offices in Burgas, including the respective territorial divisions. The magistrates expressed their conviction that he will be a worthy representative who will work for the independence and prestige of the judicial system.

Georgi Chinev has over 26 years of legal experience. His professional career began in 2000 as a junior prosecutor at the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Burgas, later holding the positions of "prosecutor" (from 2001) and "acting deputy administrative head" (in 2007). In 2018 and 2023, he was elected to two consecutive terms as the administrative head of the District Prosecutor's Office in Burgas. His more than 15 years of managerial and administrative experience allow him to have an in-depth understanding of the challenges in the sector and to offer coordinated solutions to overcome them.

His professional successes have been recognized on numerous occasions:

  • In 2019, he was awarded the "For Merit" badge for the excellent performance of his duties as a prosecutor and administrator.
  • In 2020, he received an award for high results in the organization of the work of the prosecutor's offices in the district judicial region.
  • In 2023, he was awarded the "Professional Gratitude" badge for high professionalism and exemplary investigation of a specific pre-trial proceeding.
