The International Congress Center in Burgas will host the Common Maritime Black Sea Annual Stakeholder Conference 2026 on September 30. During the event, which is scheduled from 08:45 to 18:00, the SPEER-A project team will demonstrate the results achieved so far. Participants will track the progress of the initiative and discuss potential pathways for future cooperation and joint activities.

The project "Strengthening and enhancing capacity for emergency response and earthquake rescue in the Black Sea Basin" (SPEER-A) will be implemented over a period of 28 months — from September 15, 2025, to January 15, 2028. It is funded through the Second Call for Proposals under the 2021-2027 Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Program. The primary goal of the initiative is to improve emergency response, strengthen cross-border synergy, and enhance capacity for conducting rescue operations in the region.

Burgas State University "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" has confirmed its participation in the project, the higher education institution reports. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the capacity for rescue activities and emergency response in the Black Sea Basin, which is a seismically active zone, necessitating closer coordination between scientific communities and local management authorities during an earthquake disaster.
