The third edition of the eco-innovative camp under the project "Reassessment of Climate Neutrality in European Coastal Cities" (Re-Value), implemented by the Municipality of Burgas and funded by the Horizon Europe Program, ended with inspiring ideas and ambitious solutions for a greener and more sustainable city. Over 80 students from 13 Burgas schools actively participated in the event, which this time challenged them to bring to life the "Green Arena" - the conceptually renovated sports hall "Mladost".
The participants worked in teams and proposed bold, technological and socially significant innovations: a vertical garden and a "Plant Your Green" vending machine, kinetic floor tiles generating electricity, EcoFit fitness with an app that converts workout energy into reward points, an educational aquarium with a closed water cycle, a container coffee shop with a herb garden and a zero-waste concept, an urban garden with eco-education, interactive sports and educational panels, a sports and cultural hub, floor paths with piezoelectric effect, playgrounds with energy tiles and smart benches, as well as a portable mini farm GreenPod.
The presented ideas will be considered as possible components in the real transformation of the "Mladost" hall under the project "RELAUNCHTOWIN", funded by the "EUI - Innovative Actions" program. The project aims to create a sustainable, multifunctional and inclusive environment through architectural transformation, green energy and socially engaged initiatives, and to transform the sports hall into a green, educational and community center for sports and a sustainable lifestyle.
The innovation camp once again showed that young people in Burgas not only dream of a better future - they design it.
