The World Bank Group will present a report on poverty and equality in Bulgaria, and how they link to the green transition, at the Grand Hotel Sofia, the bank said. The event starts at 9:00am.

The report is called "A Green and Inclusive Future: Creating Opportunities in the Green Transition". The bank is organising the event with the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the Ministry of Energy.

The authors look at what has helped Bulgaria cut poverty and raise living standards, and why some groups and regions are still falling behind. They also examine how the green transition and EU carbon prices could affect household budgets. The report suggests ways to protect families and to get more people involved in the economy.

The findings and reform proposals will be discussed with the government and civil society. Labour and social policy minister Natalia Efremova, deputy energy minister Lyubomira Gancheva and Jason Pellmar, head of the World Bank Group office for Bulgaria, will speak at the meeting.

The report will be the basis for talks on the coming EU anti-poverty strategy and on Bulgaria's Social Climate Plan.
