Burgas State University begins the new academic year with 900 freshmen, who for the first time have the opportunity to choose from 19 professional fields of study.

The ceremonial opening was attended by numerous guests, including Regional Governor Diko Dikov, Members of Parliament Prof. Rumyana Yankova and Adv. Silviya Hristova, the Mayor of Sungurlare Municipality Dimitar Gavazov, member of the University Board of Trustees Tsvetelina Borislavova, the regional coordinator of KNSB Maya Sarieva, as well as the university's former rector, Assoc. Prof. Nikolay Ralev.

To mark the start of the academic year, a water blessing ceremony was held, wishing health and success to the students and the entire academic staff of the higher education institution.

"This day is always special for our university – it marks the beginning of another year in which we will impart knowledge, develop young people, and prepare them for the future," shared the Rector of BSU, Prof. Dr. Sotir Sotirov, during the official opening.

Regional Governor Diko Dikov addressed the attendees, stating that the university is one of the main pillars of higher education in the Burgas region, and wished the students, faculty, and staff a year filled with health, success, and inspiration.

A congratulatory speech to the guests and attendees was also delivered by Siyana Slavova, head of the University Student Council.

Following tradition, a wreath was laid before the monument of the university's patron, Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov, as a sign of gratitude.
