Premiere of the Bulgarian film "Women Out of Use"

Today, the 11th edition of the Burgas International Film Festival (BIFF) welcomes one of the most anticipated Bulgarian productions – "Women Out of Use" (2026) by director Alexander Kosev.

The screening begins at 19:30 at the NHK Cultural Center, as part of the feature film competition program.

The premiere will be attended by key figures from the team, including actors Julian Vergov, Aleksandra Kostova, Martin Metodiev, Nikolay Urumov, and screenwriter Neli Dimitrova. The film, shot entirely in Burgas, follows the personal choices and life transformations of four women.

Festival program and highlights

The second day of the festival offers a rich palette of events:

  • Short films: Screenings of international titles such as "Class," "Such a Low Sky," and "Pirate Land."
  • Focus Austria: Presentation of the iconic film Amour Fou by Jessica Hausner.
  • Black Sea Selection: Director Sunay Terzioglu will personally present his film "Connections, Roots and Passions" at the "Okhlyuva" stage.

Side events

The program also includes a creative workshop called "Enneagram" with film critic Mirela Vasileva, as well as a presentation of her book "Scandinavian Cinema – Styles and Motifs." It is important to note that admission to all screenings and events until July 25 is free of charge.
