Concert in Burgas: A musical evening with works by Luigi Boccherini

Fans of classical music in Burgas will have the rare opportunity to immerse themselves in the work of one of the most significant composers of the classical era, the Italian Luigi Boccherini. The event, which marks an important anniversary of the maestro's birth, will take place this evening, August 19, and promises to be a true feast for the senses.

A central part of the program is the performance of the timeless medieval Latin poem

"Stabat Mater"

This deeply emotional work, dating from the 13th century, tells of the heartbreaking suffering of the Virgin Mary as she witnesses the agony of her son, crucified on the cross. The poem plays a key role in Catholic liturgy, but its universality and power have inspired countless composers over the centuries. Even today, it is known primarily for the numerous musical interpretations written to its text.

Performers and Program

The list of composers who have been touched by this sacred poem is impressive and includes names like Gioachino Rossini, Antonín Dvořák, and Giuseppe Verdi. However, the audience in Burgas will have the privilege of hearing the rarely performed and exceptionally gentle version by Luigi Boccherini. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the composer's death, and the concert is part of the commemorations in his memory.

To recreate the magic of the work, two talented Bulgarian performers will take the stage. Soprano Zhaneta Stegareva and tenor-alto Andrey Nadenov will perform "Stabat Mater", giving the audience a powerful and heartfelt vocal performance. Their partner on the piano will be the experienced Galina Apostolova, who will accompany the vocalists with her masterful accompaniment.

The concert will take place in the emblematic hall "Petya Dubarova" at the "Morsko Kazino" Cultural Center, a venue that often hosts significant cultural events in the city. The event starts at 6:30 PM. Admission is free, which allows anyone who wishes to enjoy this unique cultural experience.
