A powerful emotional story about independence and personal choice lies at the heart of the film "Maria Angeles". The screening will take place on September 28, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM at the NHK Cultural Center.

The plot follows a difficult family conflict sparked by the arrival of Clara. The daughter comes to the Spanish quarter of Tangier with a clear goal: to convince her mother, Maria Angeles, to sell their home. Since the property was transferred to Clara's name by her late father, she tries to force her mother to move out in order to resolve her own financial problems resulting from her divorce.

However, Maria Angeles is an elderly woman who is deeply attached to her community and is well-loved by all her neighbors. Because of her strong bond with the place, she refuses to give in to the pressure and makes a firm decision to remain in her home.
