Epic of the Forgotten: Premiere at the Dramatic Theatre

Adriana Budevska Dramatic Theatre presents the premiere of "Epic of the Forgotten" – a stage adaptation of Ivan Vazov"s great poetic work.

The performance, whose premiere is scheduled for September 18, promises to be an inspiring experience, immersing the viewer in the era of the struggle for national liberation.

The dramaturgical text is by Emil Bonev, the director is Bogdan Petkanin, and the set design and costumes are entrusted to Milen Borichev and Zhanetta Ivanova respectively. The musical arrangement is by Georgi Garchov.

The performance features an exceptional cast, including names such as Nikola Parashkevov, Zlatko Angelov, Tikomir Blagoev, Ivan Grigorov, Stefan Ivanov, Viktor Mladenov, Yana Nikolova, Nikol Karabinova, Zornitsa Konstantinova, Asen Lozanov and Simona Bogdanova. Expectations for a powerful and emotional performance are high.

"Epic of the Forgotten" is not just a historical reconstruction. It is a bold and provocative interpretation of Vazov"s work, which transforms words into living images.

The performance focuses on the forgotten heroes – clergymen, revolutionaries and enlighteners – people whose deeds and self-sacrifice have built the Bulgarian national conscience.

• Symbolic figures such as Benkovski, Kocho, the Zhekov brothers, Kableshkov, Paisii, the Miladinov brothers, Hadji Dimitar, Volov, Karadzata and the Shipka Defenders come to life on stage.

They become emblems of moral purity and idealism, sharply contrasting with contemporary oblivion and indifference.

The director"s concept, using contemporary stage language and strong visual staging, raises important questions about memory, national identity and the responsibility of each generation to its historical heritage.

The performance is a sharp message, echoing in the present with a call for respect to those who dedicated their lives to Bulgaria. These ideas are further emphasized by the strong acting and the emotional charge that is expected to captivate the audience.

The project was implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture.
