New opportunities for cross-border cooperation in the field of public services
The Interreg VI-A Bulgaria - Serbia 2021-2027 program allocates over 4.6 million euros for the development of new or upgrading of existing public services for the benefit of people and businesses in the cross-border region. The financing is 100%, with 85% from the European Union and 15% national co-financing or own co-financing. The projects must include soft activities, such as digital solutions, trainings or new administrative practices, and can also finance investments in infrastructure and equipment.

The students from SU "Lyuben Karavelov" in Nessebar and OU "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" in Sveti Vlas achieved remarkable success in the National External Assessment after 4th grade for the 2024/2025 academic year. The average grades of the students from the two schools significantly exceed the regional and national indicators, with excellent results including numerous students with the full number of points in Bulgarian language and literature and mathematics.
European funding secured for key sections of the "Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo" motorway
The Monitoring Committee of the "Transport Connectivity" Program 2021–2027 approved funding for two important sections of the "Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo" motorway - the Ruse-Byala section and the Byala bypass. The total value of the investment is close to 2 billion leva, with over half being non-refundable EU funds. The projects will increase the capacity, safety, and connectivity in Northern Bulgaria.
A traffic accident in Pleven due to improper overtaking
A police patrol has reported a traffic accident in the area of the Humata bus stop in Pleven. It was found that a passenger car attempted to overtake a truck with Romanian registration, during which it hit the truck. Two passengers in the passenger car were slightly injured, but first aid was provided at the scene.
The responsibility for the management of waste from electrical and electronic equipment: Myth and reality
The media reports on an upcoming increase in the "product fee" for goods from electrical and electronic equipment, which is causing public concern. However, the Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) explains that it is not the institution that sets these fees, but that they are established by waste recovery organizations based on the necessary costs. Nevertheless, MOEW has a commitment to effectively monitor the implementation of national waste management goals.
A new law for compensation of transportation costs will come into force in 2023.
The law on compensating consumers for transport costs, which will come into force in November 2023, requires producers of oil products from Russian crude oil to make monthly contributions to compensate for these costs. The amount of the contribution is determined by the Minister of Economy and Industry, and for May 2025 it is 0 leva, as there are no oil products of Russian origin released from a tax warehouse.
Maintenance of the joints of the A4 "Struma" motorway in the Kyustendil region during the next week
During the period June 16-20, warranty maintenance of the joints of three facilities on the "Struma" motorway in Kyustendil region will be carried out. Traffic will be limited to one lane, and drivers must drive carefully and follow the temporary signage.
The European Commission approves key changes in the Environment Programme 2021-2027.
The European Commission approved significant changes to the Environment Programme 2021-2027, which will improve the implementation of the environmental objectives financed by the programme. The changes include expanding the scope of water and sanitation investments, introducing a 'pay-as-you-throw' scheme for household waste management, as well as support for biodiversity protection and climate change mitigation.

On June 18, 2025, the Registry Agency will carry out planned activities for optimization and information security, which will lead to temporary interruptions in the electronic services offered on the website https://uwt.registryagency.bg. The interruptions will be from 22:15 to 22:30 hours.

The upcoming performance of "The Ladies" at the Summer Theater in Burgas, scheduled for June 15, 2025, has been canceled. Viewers can return the purchased tickets at the theater box office after 6:30 pm on June 15 or through the platforms they were purchased from. The organizers apologize for the inconvenience.
A charitable initiative of high school graduates helps the neonatal department
The graduating class of 2025 from the Specialized Natural Science and Mathematics High School "Acad. Nikola Obreshkov" in Burgas organized a farewell concert, the proceeds of which amounting to 10,000 levs were donated to the Neonatology Department of the University Hospital in Burgas.
