A reader, Pavel, contacted BurgasMedia to voice his outrage at drivers who throw trash directly onto the roads. According to him, this is not only a sign of poor manners but also a disgrace for the city and the country.

“Every day I see someone opening their window and tossing out cigarette butts, coffee cups, and plastic bags. This is shameful! Where is the control?” he asks.

“I don’t understand why fines exist only on paper. If there were real punishments, no one would dare behave like this.”

“This is sheer ignorance and irresponsibility towards nature and all of us who try to keep things clean,” Pavel adds.

Bulgarian law provides for fines for littering in unauthorized places, but in practice, enforcement is often lacking. Many are calling for stricter measures and more surveillance cameras along the roads.
