The peak of the Ursid meteor shower, the last one of the year, can be observed from Bulgaria on Monday, December 22nd, around 12:00 PM, reports "Amateur Astronomer's Guide 2025".

During the maximum of the stream, about 10 meteors per hour are expected. The conditions for observation are favorable, as the Moon is in a phase close to a new moon, which will not hinder observations.

On December 22nd, the Sun will rise at 07:54 AM for Sofia, and observations can be carried out until around 06:45 AM. It will set at 16:57 PM for our capital, and observations can begin from around 18:10 PM.

The parent body of the Ursid stream is the comet 8P/Tuttle. The meteor shower is active from December 17th to 26th.
