Located in close proximity to the airport terminal in the Sarafovo neighborhood, the Burgas Aviation Museum is a remarkable complex that celebrates the double anniversary of Bulgarian aviation – 90 years of the local airport and 70 years of civil aviation in the country.

The ambitious project, realized with the support of Burgas Municipality and partners like Fraport Bulgaria, offers an exceptionally rich collection of ten different aircraft exhibits. Among them stand out civilian, agricultural, and military machines, including famous models such as An-2, An-12, MiG-17, MiG-21, and Mi-2 helicopter.

The exhibition space skillfully combines an open and closed zone. The outdoor area presents authentic flying apparatus, while the interior space offers an in-depth immersion into aviation history through an impressive collection of models, pilot equipment, navigation apparatus, and original "black boxes".

The museum's technological equipment exceeds traditional museum standards. Visitors can enjoy 4D simulations of a working engine, UV light effects in An-12, as well as modern VR experiences like a Tu-134 control simulation. A special focus in 2024 is placed on the Mi-2 helicopter – the first Soviet twin-turbine model actively used in Bulgaria.

Statistics eloquently prove the museum's popularity – over 260,000 visitors since 2017, including more than 40,000 this year. The tourist flow primarily includes citizens from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Poland, and the Czech Republic, according to director Stanislav Mazhglov.

Accessibility is among the key advantages of the museum. Entrance fees are extremely democratic – 6 leva for adults, 4 leva for children over 6 years, students, and pensioners, with free entry for the youngest visitors under 6 years old. Operating hours are adjusted to seasonal characteristics – in summer daily from 09:00 to 20:00, and in winter from Wednesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00.

The museum is not limited to the exhibition but organizes diverse events – from the International Day of Aviation and Cosmonautics with scientific workshops to the European Night of Museums with free entry and interactive activities.
