Ministers Miroslav Borshos and Ivan Peshev officially confirmed that Bulgaria will host the prestigious cycling race Giro d'Italia in 2026. During a joint briefing at the Council of Ministers, the successful winning of the host status amid strong international competition was announced.

Borshos emphasized the exceptional importance of this sporting event, defining it as an opportunity for a large-scale presentation of Bulgaria to the global community. "This start will put our country on the tourist map and make it recognizable as an attractive destination," said the Minister of Tourism.

The cycling tour will cover dozens of Bulgarian municipalities, with the route passing through different parts of the country. The competition will include three consecutive stages that will connect different regions from east to west or vice versa.

Although the specific dates and exact routes have not yet been announced, the government has already supported the initiative. Experts expect the event to bring significant benefits to the local economy, tourism, and Bulgaria's international image.

Negotiations are pending and further clarification of the budget for organizing this large-scale international sports forum, which is expected to attract the attention of global media.
