Dry for travel and outdoor work after the wet Tuesday

After Tuesday's rain, Wednesday in Burgas passes almost without a drop. The sky is cloudy all day, and until the afternoon the chance of precipitation is zero, while for the whole day it is 20 percent. If it does rain, the water will barely wet the asphalt. The roads dry slowly, because humidity in the morning is 89 percent and there is no sun.

Drivers should be careful with wet leaves on the road, especially under the trees along the boulevards and in the shady streets of the old neighborhoods. Water may be left in low spots from yesterday. Windows fog up easily, so turn on the ventilation before you set off.

The day is convenient for builders, roofers and everyone who works outdoors. The wind is northwesterly, about 11 km/h, with gusts up to 22, and it bothers neither the scaffolding nor the cranes. The sun rises at 06:38 and sets at 17:08, so shortly after five it is already getting dark and the commute home is by headlights.

Between 12 and 15 degrees, without a single hour of sun

At 8 a.m. the thermometer shows 12 degrees. Around 2 p.m. it climbs to 15, which is the day's maximum, and humidity drops to 84 percent. It feels like 14 degrees, because the air is damp and the clouds do not let the sun through. Of the 11 daylight hours, not one is sunny.

In the evening at 8 p.m. it is still 14 degrees. The chance of a drop of rain is 5 percent, and humidity rises to 88. During the night the temperature falls to 11 degrees. The ultraviolet index is 1 and you do not need sunscreen.

The northwest wind blows from the land toward the sea and does not raise waves near the shore, so the beaches from Sarafovo to Kraimorie are quiet.

The sea is 18 degrees and calm

The water is warmer than the air, and the waves do not exceed 20 centimeters. It is not a beach day, except for the hardy ones who swim even in winter. The weather is suitable for a walk in the Sea Garden and on the bridge, and the air is clean, with an air quality index of 21, which is a good level.

Leaves are falling, gardens do not need water

After yesterday's rain the soil is wet and there is no need for watering either in the yard or in the balcony pots. In cool and cloudy weather the water hardly evaporates, and new rain is expected on Thursday.

In the streets and parks the leaves are falling in full force. Rake up the wet leaves from the grass, because under them it is left without light and begins to rot. If you are mowing for the last time this season, leave the grass taller, about 5 or 6 centimeters.

Collect the spotted leaves of roses and do not put them in the compost, because moisture favors fungal diseases. The chrysanthemums in the flower beds are blooming, and the wet and cool soil is suitable for planting trees, shrubs and tulip bulbs before the first frosts.

Before the rain, clear the gutters and the drain grates in front of the entrance of leaves. When clogged, they send the water back onto the sidewalk.

The cool 2016 and the warm 2006

Ten years ago, on 28 October, Burgas saw 6 to 10 degrees, the coldest day for this date of the years checked. In 2006 the thermometer reached 19 degrees, and last year the day was 8 to 18 and without a drop of rain. Today's maximum is equal to the average for the date. Five years of archive are not enough to draw a conclusion about where the climate is heading, but they show that on the same day the difference between a cool and a warm autumn in Burgas is nearly 9 degrees.

A jacket for the morning, a run at noon

In the morning, with high humidity, it is cool, so wear a jacket or a thicker sweater and closed shoes because of the wet sidewalks. The umbrella can stay at home. If you run, the most convenient time is around noon, when it is warmest and not raining. The afternoon is good for a walk with the children in the Sea Garden or in Izgrev park, as long as you get home before dark. Behind the wheel, keep a larger distance where the asphalt is covered with leaves, and turn on your lights in the early afternoon, when the clouds are thick.

On Thursday there is light rain, about 3 liters per square meter, at 13 to 14 degrees and a north wind with gusts up to 32 km/h.
