The management of the "Bolero" retail chain has launched an internal investigation following a scandalous incident involving verbal aggression and the humiliation of an elderly woman at one of the company's locations in the "Izgrev" district. Although the employee's behavior was condemned by the company as unacceptable and in violation of corporate standards, the official position of "Bolero" Ltd. reveals other details established through video footage and official records.
According to Stanka Karacholova, the manager of the supermarket in the "Izgrev" district, the employee will face appropriate administrative and labor accountability for the incident. However, during the investigation, significant discrepancies were discovered between the publicly made claims and the actual circumstances. In the initial report and subsequent publication, the employee involved was described as a male cashier, but recordings prove that a female employee was working at the register in question.
Action is also expected regarding the conduct of a male customer who, according to "Bolero" Ltd., was not directly involved in the initial conflict between the cashier and the female customer. However, video footage shows actions on his part toward the employee that could be interpreted as attempts at physical retaliation. The company emphasizes that the final legal assessment of the actions of all participants in the situation rests solely with the competence of the relevant state authorities.
The incident took place on September 6 in front of dozens of shoppers. Lachezar Dimitrov, who became a direct witness to the insulting treatment, raised the alarm after seeing a woman over 80 years old subjected to brutal insults while attempting to pay her bill. Dimitrov filed an official report through the chain's social media channels, demanding immediate measures against the cruelty shown toward a helpless person.
As the eyewitness recounted, the elderly pensioner was holding 5 and 10 euro banknotes in her hands. The slow service clearly agitated the cashier, who suddenly snatched the smaller banknote from the customer's hands and erupted with the words: "Come on, you cheapskate, I'm not dealing with you. You smell like dirt!".
When Lachezar Dimitrov immediately intervened to defend the elderly woman, instead of receiving an apology, he became the target of a new volley of verbal attacks and aggression from the cashier. In its official statement, "Bolero" Ltd. declares that it bears the responsibility to simultaneously protect the rights of its customers, the dignity and safety of its employees, and the public interest in the accurate presentation of facts. The company added that any form of threat, aggression, or physical assault is unacceptable, but that criticism of the employee should not justify the aggressive actions of other participants in the incident.
