Sofia City Prosecutor's Office will ask a court to order permanent custody for six people charged with taking part in an organised crime group. The group operated in the Varna, Plovdiv and Sofia regions, prosecutors said.
All six are being held for up to 72 hours. Four of them work in jobs linked to customs control.
Prosecutors say the group was active between January 2022 and 5 November 2026. Another defendant in the case is on bail of €20,000.
The case was opened in May 2026. The Interior Ministry's Chief Directorate for Combating Organised Crime is leading the investigation.
On 5 November, interior minister Ivan Demerdzhiev said four people, including customs officers, were detained in an operation against tax crimes in Varna.
