Stable prices for staple foods this week were accompanied by a wide variety of offers at the Sofia Commodity Exchange (SCE). In the canned food sector, green peas are being offered at prices ranging from 1.19 to 2.63 euros per kilogram, sweet corn between 1.83 and 3.54 euros per kilogram, and peeled diced tomatoes are available for 2.53 to 2.65 euros per kilogram. There is also active supply in nuts and seeds, with prices varying from 1,278.23 to 7,362.60 euros per tonne.

The market for fuels and industrial raw materials in the "Industrial Goods" sub-circle of the SCE is showing dynamic levels. Sales of coniferous timber reached 61.30 euros per cubic meter. Concluded deals for B6 diesel fuel are in the range of 1,500 - 1,706.64 euros per thousand liters, while A95H gasoline is trading between 1,300 and 1,340 euros per thousand liters. Gasoil for industrial and municipal purposes is quoted at 1,487 to 1,607.73 euros per thousand liters, and propane-butane gas was sold at 541.67 euros per thousand liters.

On the domestic market, following the deals made at the end of August for feed wheat at 180 euros per tonne, feed barley at 170 euros per tonne, and oats at 150 euros per tonne, current offers this week include demand for feed wheat at 192 euros per tonne and sales of milling wheat at 230 euros per tonne. Exchange experts attribute the sustained high grain prices to the failed peace initiatives for shipping in the Black Sea and the unsuccessful UN proposals for renewing the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

Internationally, the situation is as follows:

  • Milling wheat (Chicago): 270 - 275 dollars per tonne;
  • Milling wheat (Euronext): 285 - 290 dollars per tonne;
  • Corn (Chicago): 208 - 211 dollars per tonne;
  • Corn (Euronext): 308 - 312 dollars per tonne.

Regarding sugar, short-term dynamics continue to be influenced by fluctuations in the Brazilian currency. Raw sugar futures on the New York exchange are trading at prices between 399 and 413 dollars per tonne, while refined sugar on the London exchange is quoted in the range of 519 - 539 dollars per tonne.
