A total of 20 magistrates were initially nominated to participate in the election of new members to the Supreme Judicial Council from the professional quota. All proposals are publicly available on the official website of the Supreme Judicial Council, where they are posted in the specialized section "Procedure for conducting elections of members of the Supreme Judicial Council by judges," media reports note.

After reviewing the submitted nominations, the Prosecutors' College reached a unanimous decision to admit 17 of the candidates for further participation in the procedure. In the event of disagreement with the college's decision, it is subject to appeal within the statutory three-day period. Any potential appeals will be examined by a specially formed mixed panel, consisting of two magistrates from the Supreme Administrative Court and three judges from the Supreme Court of Cassation.

The list of candidates admitted to the race includes Darin Hristov from the Burgas District Prosecutor's Office, Desislava Petrova, Deputy City Prosecutor at the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, Krasimira Filipova, former Deputy Prosecutor General and prosecutor at the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office, Milena Gamozova from the Varna Appellate Prosecutor's Office, Atanas Gebrev, prosecutor at the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office, Yulita Grigorova from the Burgas Appellate Prosecutor's Office, Ivaylo Angelov from the Sofia Appellate Prosecutor's Office, Hristo Anchev from the Plovdiv Military Prosecutor's Office, Dimitar Leshtakov from the Veliko Tarnovo Appellate Prosecutor's Office, Daniela Popova, administrative head of the Sofia Appellate Prosecutor's Office, Ivanka Kotorova from the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office, Marina Nenkova from the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, Georgi Chinev, administrative head of the Burgas District Prosecutor's Office, Radoslav Gradov from the Ruse District Prosecutor's Office, Siyka Mileva, former spokesperson for the Prosecutor General and prosecutor at the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office, Plamen Petkov from the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office, and Ivaylo Iliev from the Kyustendil District Prosecutor's Office.
