Weather Forecast: Precipitation Weakens, But Wind Persists

During the night, after a prolonged period of unfavorable conditions, the precipitation is expected to weaken and stop, reported Bulgarian National Television (BNT). However, in the eastern half of the country, forecasters predict continuing rainfall during the morning hours. The situation, however, will gradually change as the cloud cover, starting from the west, will slowly dissipate.

The northeastern regions of the country are expected to be windy, which may create additional challenges for residents and travelers in these areas. The minimum temperatures in the country will range mostly between 6° and 11°, which suggests a relatively mild night. In Sofia, the capital, a minimum temperature of around 7° is expected.

During the day, temperatures will begin to rise. Daytime values will vary from around 14° in Sofia to 19° in Plovdiv and Montana. The wind will be moderate, but temporarily strong in the northeastern regions, with a direction from the west-northwest. In the afternoon, the rainfall in Eastern Bulgaria is also expected to weaken and stop, while in the western half of the country the probability of precipitation remains small.

In some places along the Black Sea coast, rainfall is also expected in the morning. During the day, however, they are expected to weaken and stop, but the cloud cover will persist. The windy weather will continue, with a moderate, temporarily strong wind from the west-northwest. The maximum temperatures in the coastal regions are expected to be around 16° – 17°. The sea swell will be around 2 – 3 Beaufort, which necessitates increased caution for all planning activities in the sea.

In the mountainous regions of the country, the cloud cover will also remain more often significant. Rainfall is expected in places, with the boundary between rain and snow being around 1800 meters above sea level, which suggests winter conditions in the higher parts. It will still be very windy in the mountains, with a strong wind expected from the northwest, which may complicate mountain hikes and activities.
