Changes passed to the insurance code let motorcyclists and campervan owners buy third-party liability cover for a term of at least 30 days. The price of the shorter policy has not been set yet.
The final vote was on parliament's agenda for 15 October, after the committee on economic policy, investment and industry approved the text for the second reading. No date has been given for when the changes take effect.

Krasen Parushev, an officer of a motorcycle club, called the shorter term a good step. But he said the benefit for riders depends on how prices are set. He told BNT: "This is a positive step, because in the end it is a market principle. Everyone should pay for what they use."
Riders are unhappy with current prices, which remain high after a sharp rise this year. Parushev gave his own policy as an example. Two days ago he got a green card and came across his old insurance policy.
"It was 140 leva last year. This year I paid 115 euros, even 118, which is an 80% rise in the cost of insurance in one year." Last year's price of 140 leva is €71.58.
Parushev recalled that at the same time last year, riders were told prices were rising by only half a percent.
He looked for information on what monthly policies would cost, but there is none yet. One price cannot suit everyone, because the bill depends on the bike and other factors. So the main question is how short-term policies will be priced.
Parushev thinks prices for three and six months should be in proportion. In his view, a three-month and a six-month policy added together should cost more than the annual one, and two monthly policies should cost more than one three-month policy. If two monthly policies cost the same as one three-month policy, riders gain nothing.
Parushev does not know what insurers base their prices on. He assumes it is claims and accidents. The club is waiting for insurers to explain how they set prices and to provide statistics showing whether the prices are justified.
For an acceptable monthly policy, Parushev named no more than 15–20 euros, at most.
