More than 700,000 students in 2,322 schools across the country are preparing for the start of the new school year, according to the press office of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES). It is expected that over 55,000 first-graders will walk through the classroom doors for the first time tomorrow.

There are currently over 92,000 pedagogical specialists working in the education sector, with some of them – over 20,000 – employed in the kindergarten system. The ministry reports a positive trend in recent years regarding the attraction of young talent: nearly 20% of all teachers are now under the age of 35.

The necessary textbooks and learning materials have been provided for the upcoming school term, and the MES has confirmed readiness to welcome the children. Furthermore, to ensure better conditions, over 600 renovations were carried out in educational institutions during the summer period. Students will also have access to more than 2,000 newly built STEM centers. The investment, exceeding 250 million euros under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, aims to provide modernly equipped classrooms for conducting experiments, practical activities, and collaborative project work.

The issue of discipline is also a priority, with the Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Georgi Valchev, stating on the Bulgarian National Television that concrete proposals in three main groups will be presented as early as this week. One of them is aimed at changing the penalty system. Prof. Valchev emphasized that before resorting to the extreme measure of "expulsion," a series of lighter sanctions should be introduced, through which the teacher can issue the necessary warnings to students.

Thousands of families in Burgas and the region are preparing for the first day of school, marking the beginning of the educational process for their children.

The learning process has already begun for thousands of children abroad. Currently, nearly 40,000 students are being educated in 410 Bulgarian Sunday schools spread across 44 countries around the world.
