Large-scale structural reform in the Ministry of Interior

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has launched a process of comprehensive structural reform. The goal is to optimize costs and increase the operational efficiency of the department, stated Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev.

"A large part of the units in the ministry create unjustified expenses and lead to an accumulation of management positions without any real benefit," emphasized Demerdzhiev.

Main steps in the optimization:

• Closure of redundant units: Elimination of structures under the political leadership that provide no operational benefit.
• Removal of overlapping functions: Optimization of the administrative apparatus to unburden professional staff.
• Long-term strategy: Development of a new operating model to meet modern challenges.

Priorities for the MoI:

Despite the administrative changes, the ministry remains focused on its key tasks:

• Uncompromising fight against corruption and organized crime.
• Active actions against drug trafficking and smuggling.
• Limiting petty crime and improving road safety.

The reform is taking place at a time when the MoI marked 147 years since its establishment. The minister added that work is also underway for better coordination between the executive and legislative branches to ensure transparency in the work of the institutions.
