Expected heavy traffic around May 24
During the holidays around May 24, a record load on the national road network is expected, with over 490,000 vehicles leaving the capital. The "Trakia", "Struma", and "Hemus" motorways are expected to be the busiest.
Drivers can monitor traffic in real time through the interactive map of the National Toll Administration at bgtoll.bg.
Temporary restrictions for heavy goods vehicles
To facilitate traffic flow and ensure safety, restrictions are being introduced for trucks over 12 tons during peak hours. The ban covers:
- Trakia Motorway
- Hemus Motorway (from Sofia to the junction with road I-4)
- Struma Motorway
- Road I-1 (the Simitli - Kresna section)

To facilitate travelers heading towards Bansko, reversible traffic with two lanes in the direction of the heavy traffic will be introduced on road I-1 in the Simitli area. The Road Infrastructure Agency urges drivers to be patient and strictly observe traffic rules.
