Environmental protection policies are becoming increasingly essential to the overall management process of not only the state but also the economy. This was stated by the Chairperson of the National Assembly, Mihaela Dotova, at the ceremonial opening of the 2026/2027 academic year at the University of Forestry. Her words were quoted by the Parliament's press center.

According to Dotova, Bulgaria possesses unique nature, and its preservation depends solely on us. The cleaner the Bulgarian nature, the stronger our society will be, she noted. The Chairperson of the NA addressed the faculty and students, stating that the country's future is in their hands. They are called to preserve Bulgaria's exceptional natural assets for future generations.

The University of Forestry produces excellent professionals who cherish and love Bulgarian nature. Mihaela Dotova has personally seen this throughout her professional career over the last 10 years. Her words were quoted by the parliamentary press center.

The Chairperson of the National Assembly added that thanks to the University of Forestry, the country has well-prepared specialists to meet the needs of the executive branch. It is tasked with protecting forest and water resources, monitoring air quality, and providing adequate assessments of climate change, Dotova said. According to her, these professionals are in demand not only in administration but also in the economy, forestry, and agriculture.

The Chairperson of Parliament also congratulated the university's first-year students. She noted that they have chosen a field that is a mission. "I know it will be difficult for you, but do not worry about that, because the harder it is for you now, the easier it will be for you in the future," Mihaela Dotova emphasized, according to the press center's release.

Prior to the ceremonial opening, the Chairperson of the National Assembly spoke with the Rector of the University of Forestry, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hristo Mihaylov. During the meeting, Dotova congratulated the higher education institution on the opening of a university branch in Burgas.

"Your students are in-demand and valued specialists, which is due to the efforts and knowledge of the faculty, their dedication, their love for Bulgarian nature, and their strive to pass it on to future generations clean and vibrant," the NA Chairperson highlighted to the Rector.

This is not Mihaela Dotova's first participation in an opening of a new academic year. On September 15, she also attended the start of the academic year at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy.
