Four containers are drifting in the Black Sea, east of Burgas Bay, the VTMIS ship traffic monitoring system has warned.
They were spotted today at 10:55am at four different places in the area. Because they are a danger to shipping, VTMIS issued a navigation warning and asked ships to pass with extra care.
The background: More than 20 containers fell into the sea from a ship hit off Cape Kaliakra
On Wednesday, 28 October, three sea drones hit a container ship about 21 nautical miles south-east of Shabla. It had 421 containers on board. Rear Admiral Kiril Mihaylov, then commander of the Navy, said 20 of them had fallen overboard and were floating in the sea.
The Varna regional administration said the ship sank at around midnight. The Shipping Control Directorate and the Maritime Administration Executive Agency confirmed it had sunk.
