The Burgas beach will remain under lifeguard supervision until September 16, and there will be no reduction in the number of lifeguards until that date. A total of 11 posts with 22 lifeguards will ensure the safety of vacationers every day from 09:00 to 18:30. The information was confirmed by Petar Rusev, senior lifeguard at the city's North Beach.

Currently, the sea is extremely dangerous with waves reaching 3 to 4 on the Douglas scale, and the water temperature is around 26 degrees. Red flags have been placed along the beaches, prohibiting entry into the water, with only wading up to the knees being allowed. Despite the strict prohibitions, many beachgoers do not follow the instructions, which leads to numerous incidents. In Burgas, a man was injured after the waves "dislocated" his shoulder while he was entering the sea.

The last few days have been marked by fatal cases in the region. A Ukrainian man drowned in Pomorie, and in Ahtopol, the sea claimed the lives of two Moldovan tourists. A tragic incident also occurred in Sozopol, where a rip current dragged a father and his two children, and a 7-year-old boy lost his life in the elements. Lifeguards express hope that with the arrival of the "Indian summer" at the beginning of September, the sea will calm down.

The situation is similar in Varna, where lifeguards will be on duty until September 30, although their numbers will be gradually reduced starting from the beginning of the month. There, too, non-compliance with the prohibitions is reported, with lifeguards having rescued dozens of people in distress. For their bravery, four lifeguards were awarded certificates by the regional governor, Mario Smarkov. Security at the eight state-subsidized unguarded beach strips in the region will continue until September 15.
