We are wrapping up the last weekend of August with a series of exciting events in Burgas that guarantee plenty of thrills and good vibes. The extensive holiday program brings together musical performances, diverse arts, and active sports in one place, offering a colorful spectrum of experiences for all residents and visitors to the seaside city.
The kickoff is on August 28 at 6:00 PM with the start of the seventh edition of the international music and dance festival "Veleka Fest". The "Ohlyuva" (The Snail) open-air stage will become a hub for music and traditions from various countries and cultures. Just an hour later, at 7:00 PM, on the promenade in front of the Summer Theater, the Burgas theater-laboratory "Alma Alter" will guest-perform the original musical "Yan Bibiyan". The production is a contemporary stage interpretation of the classic novel by Elin Pelin and is suitable for audiences of all ages. The Friday program concludes at 8:00 PM at the NHK Cultural Center, where in the "Toncho Rusev" hall, one of the most brilliant pianists on the contemporary classical scene, Alexander Ghindin, will present the concert "The Magic of the Grand Piano". In this performance, virtuosity, sensitivity, and emotion are intertwined in perfect harmony. Tickets are available at Eventim, Kupibileti.bg, and Grandpiano.bg.
Saturday, August 29, begins at 9:30 AM with the "Velo Summer 2026" bike tour. The route starts from the lighthouse keeper's tower at the Port of Burgas, passes through the Poda Protected Area, and finishes at Chengene Skele, with the return trip by boat to Magazia 1 (pre-registration required). Sporting passion continues with the International Cycling Tour of Bulgaria, which on August 29 and 30 will turn the country's roads into an arena of high speeds and immense endurance, as elite cyclists from all over the world compete for the prestigious yellow jersey as they pass through "Atanas Sirekov" Square. In the evening at 7:30 PM, a large dose of laughter awaits you at the NHK Cultural Center with the comedy "About Love... The Male Version". In the production, Alexander Sano, Petar Antonov, Petar Dochev, and Alexander Evgeniev engage in an amazingly funny and touchingly honest conversation about happiness, jealousy, alcohol, and the longings we rarely speak aloud. Tickets can be purchased from the "Chasovnika" (The Clock) box office, Grabo.bg, and Eventim.
Sunday, August 30, offers a packed program of cultural events:
- From 7:00 PM on the balustrade in front of the "Sea Casino" Cultural Center, "Sunday Horo" returns to gather people around Bulgarian folklore and demonstrate how traditions remain a living part of urban life.
- At 7:00 PM at the NHK Cultural Center, an exclusive film screening of the concert "WALTZ THE NIGHT AWAY!" will be held – the traditional summer spectacle by world-renowned violinist André Rieu, filmed at the iconic Vrijthof square in Maastricht. Tickets are available at the "Chasovnika" box office and on Eventim.
- The weekend finale is at 7:30 PM at the Summer Theater with a concert by the Bulgarian band "Molets". As part of their "Tam kadeto..." (Where...) tour, the musicians will present their new album "Paraklis" (Chapel), returning to Burgas three years after their last performance. Tickets can be found on Eventim and at the "Chasovnika" box office.
