Burgas to host Eurovision 2027: Mascot bird sought from the “Poda” protected area

Eurovision 2027 comes to Burgas

The city won the hosting rights for the prestigious song contest in a tough competition with Sofia. Mayor Dimitar Nikolov and BNT Director General Milena Milotinova have already begun preparations for the event.

"Nature is not just a backdrop. It is home to pelicans, herons, cormorants, spoonbills, birds of prey, and many more winged inhabitants," share the BSPB.

An inspiring idea for a mascot for Eurovision 2027 comes from the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB):

• 321 bird species have been identified in the Poda Protected Area near Burgas.
• This accounts for nearly a quarter of all bird species in Europe.
• Choosing a mascot from the unique local fauna would promote Bulgarian nature to the whole world.
