Bozhidar Bojanov, co-chair of "Yes, Bulgaria" and deputy chair of the "Democratic Bulgaria" parliamentary group, has criticized the pace of the government's planned digitalization. In a Facebook post, he described the proposed deadlines as weak.

Delays in key deadlines

According to Bojanov, the introduction of the European Digital Identity Wallet is scheduled for 2029, even though the regulatory deadline is the end of this year. Furthermore, the national legal framework for artificial intelligence is set for December 2027, which he considers an unacceptable delay, given that the EU regulation is already in effect.

The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works has clearly been at a complete standstill for the last two years, Bojanov stated.

He noted that the digitalization of construction permits is planned only for December 2029, despite legislative proposals submitted in 2024 and 2025. At the same time, there are no plans for the digitalization of the vehicle registration process at the Traffic Police (KAT), nor for a new civil registration system.

Future initiatives

Bojanov emphasized that the opposition's goal is to accelerate these reforms through legislative initiatives. "An unambitious program can be corrected by an active opposition, for the sake of achieving results for Bulgarian citizens and businesses," he noted. It is worth recalling that at the end of July, the MP also initiated a parliamentary meeting with representatives of the IT sector regarding the activities of "Information Services" (Informatsionno obsluzhvane).
