Bulgarian travelers and the tourism sector may face new difficulties in planning trips related to Russia.

In European aviation circles, there is increasingly talk that Russian airspace can no longer be considered fully predictable. This is not just about delays or schedule changes, but about more serious risks — navigation problems, the closure of individual zones, route changes, and potential danger to civilian aircraft.

For Bulgaria, the topic is important not only from the perspective of aviation but also for tourism, business, and the safety of citizens. Any deterioration of the situation in the Russian sky could affect ticket prices, insurance, transit routes, and the decisions of airlines on whether to continue operating flights.

As noted by European media, some foreign carriers are already reconsidering their presence in the Russian direction. The French publication Adeas reports on the declining confidence of airlines in flights to Russia. Previously, information had appeared regarding the temporary suspension of certain flights due to security concerns.

Additional attention to the topic was drawn by the incident involving an Azerbaijani passenger plane, which, according to reports, could have been struck by Russian air defense. This case has intensified fears that during the active operation of military systems, civil aviation could be under threat.

For airlines, such risks mean higher costs and greater responsibility. Carriers must take into account possible detour routes, additional safety checks, delays, and the probability of flight cancellations. For passengers, this could mean rescheduled departures, missed connections, and more expensive tickets.

As an EU country, Bulgaria will comply with the common position of European aviation authorities and the warnings of its partners. If the situation in Russian airspace does not stabilize, more and more international companies may choose the safer option - to avoid routes involving Russia.
