Over the past 24 hours, 145 fires have been extinguished across the country, resulting in four injuries, according to the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection.
A serious incident occurred in the village of Gorno Sahrane, where seven firefighting crews were involved in battling a blaze near the train station. The fire affected bushes, grass, and abandoned orchards, and train traffic in the Tazha – Sahrane section was suspended for several hours. Firefighters managed to prevent the flames from spreading to the residential area.
In the Stara Zagora region, firefighters have responded to 12 emergency calls since the start of the day, the press office of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior reported. Fires broke out in the Lozenets district and in the lands of the village of Byal Izvor, where two crews were dispatched to contain a fire that had started in a field.
The situation remains tense in Gabrovo, where two fires required emergency intervention. One affected the regional waste depot, and the second broke out in the Gorni Bakoytsi district. Due to heavy smoke, local authorities urged residents to keep their doors and windows tightly shut and to remain indoors.
In the capital, firefighters extinguished dry grass and bushes in the Hristo Botev neighborhood, in close proximity to the Vasil Levski airport.
