Two men died last night in a crash on the I-9 road between Varna and Durankulak, at the turn-off for the village of Seltse near Kavarna. The press office of the Dobrich regional police (ODMVR) reported the crash.

At about 8:05pm, an Iveco lorry hit the back of a front loader pulling a trailer ahead of it. Police say the lorry driver appears to have lost control.

The 46-year-old loader driver died at the scene. The 65-year-old Iveco driver was taken to hospital in Dobrich but died on the way.

The impact tore apart the chassis of the trailer and the cab of the loader. Pre-trial proceedings have begun.

On Wednesday morning, three people were also hurt in a crash on the Dobrich-Silistra road, at the turn-off for the village of Smolnitsa. Police say a 57-year-old driver of a Volkswagen car failed to stop at a stop sign and cut across the path of another Volkswagen, driven by an 18-year-old. The two cars collided.

Both drivers and one passenger were examined at the hospital in Dobrich and sent home for treatment. Pre-trial proceedings have begun.
