A Triumph for Bulgarian Cinema in Sveti Vlas

The fifth edition of the "Sveti Vlas Film Fest" concluded with a glamorous ceremony at the "Arena" amphitheater. The festival's Grand Prix was awarded to director Stephan Komandarev for his film "Made in E.U.". The award was presented by President Petar Stoyanov (1997–2002), who emphasized the importance of the decentralization of culture.

"Bulgarian cinema has deep traditions and has always created valuable films, even during periods of censorship," shared Petar Stoyanov during the event.

Major festival awards:

  • Best Director: Ralitsa Petrova for the film "Lust"
  • Best Leading Actor: Ivan Savov for "Before I Forget"
  • Best Leading Actress: Stefka Yanorova for "3.0 kg of Happiness"
  • Debut Award (named after Ivan Garelov): Kamen Stoyanov for "Star"
  • Best Supporting Actor: Ivaylo Hristov ("Made in E.U.")
  • Best Supporting Actress: Meglena Karalambova ("Birthday")

The Special Jury Award was presented to Dimitar Sardzhev for the film "A Tale of Mother and Son". For the first time this year, the Union of Bulgarian Actors award for "Rising Star" was also presented, which went to Alexandra Dimitrova.

The festival has established itself as a significant cultural event that supports Bulgarian filmmakers and creates new horizons for local cinematic art.
