"Euterpe": A Unique Fusion of Music, Sculpture, and the Sea in Sozopol

A one-of-a-kind musical performance, combining classical French compositions with sculptural art and the natural marine landscape, will be presented on September 7 in Sozopol. The event, titled "Euterpe," will take place at the "Voice of the Waves" stage, located in the "Anel" art complex, the organizers announced.

The project is distinguished by its ambitious concept, which unites the classical music of geniuses like Maurice Ravel, Erik Satie, and Camille Saint-Saëns with a visual environment constructed from dozens of sculptures integrated into the coastal landscape. According to the team behind the realization, the goal is not merely to present classical works, but to create a unique aesthetic experience that will contribute to the education of the younger generation and guide them toward high artistic standards.

The idea for "Euterpe" belongs to the poet, arts patron, and businessman Angel Simeonov. The musical compilation and the overall vision of the spectacle are the work of composers Georgi Cherkin and Nikolay Hristov. To realize this large-scale initiative, prominent Bulgarian and foreign musicians have been brought in.

Participants and the Uniqueness of the Stage

Among the participants are violinist Daniel Poncelet Montalban, pianists Dinko Donchev and Anna Petkova, flutist Lora Aleksieva, double bassist Boyan Elenkov, violist Vasilena Peeva, and clarinetist Kaloyan Obretenov. The host of the event will be Desislava Hristova.

The organizers emphasize the uniqueness of the stage – "The natural marine backdrop is complemented by dozens of sculptural works perched on the rocks, the lawn, and even in the water." These works are by some of the most significant names in contemporary Bulgarian art, including:
  • Pavel Koichev
  • Emil Popov
  • Krum Damyanov
  • Ivan Slavov
  • Valentin Starchev
  • Vezhdi Rashidov

The synthesis of music, sculpture, and the marine environment creates a captivating atmosphere where art and nature intertwine in an unusual way. The "Euterpe" spectacle promises to be one of the most remarkable cultural events of the season in Sozopol, attracting the attention of classical music and contemporary art connoisseurs. The audience will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a fusion of sound and vision that can rarely be observed in such a setting.
