Bulgaria vs. Europe: Where are the lowest prices?
The latest data on price levels in the European Union confirms that Bulgaria remains the most affordable tourist destination among member states. While the cost of living in Europe is rising, our country maintains a significant price advantage.
The consumer basket in Bulgaria is 37% cheaper than the European average, which places us in first place for affordability in the EU.
Accommodation and dining costs
The biggest difference is observed in the "Restaurants and hotels" sector. Bulgarian prices are almost half as low as the community average:
- Bulgaria: index 52
- Portugal: 73.6
- Greece: 86.1
- France: 116
This means that a package of services costing 100 euros in the EU costs only 52 euros here.
Food, alcohol, and tobacco products
Food prices in our country are about 12% below the EU average. While Bulgaria also offers competitive prices for alcohol and cigarettes, Turkey surprisingly ranks as the most expensive in this segment, with levels more than double the European average.
Conclusion
Despite the gradual equalization of prices, Bulgaria continues to offer the best price-quality ratio on the continent for summer or winter vacations.
