Yellow code for intense rainfall in Bulgaria

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a warning for dangerous meteorological phenomena for today. A yellow code for intense rainfall has been declared for 11 regions in the country.

The warning is in effect for the following regions: Sofia Province, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Smolyan, Plovdiv, Kardzhali, Haskovo, Targovishte, Razgrad, and Shumen.

What kind of weather can we expect?

  • Cloudiness: Cloudiness will increase from the west and will be mostly significant by the end of the day.
  • Precipitation: Cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds are expected, with rain falling in many places.
  • Intensity: In mountain areas and the Ludogorie region, the rainfall will be temporarily intense and significant in quantity.
  • Thunderstorms: Local thunderstorms are forecast.

Residents of the affected areas should be cautious when moving outdoors and monitor current weather forecasts, as the conditions could lead to local flooding or traffic difficulties.
