Weather for August 19: Clouds, local precipitation, and rougher seas

On August 19, the weather in Bulgaria will be variable. Sofia and the region

Eastern and Western Bulgaria

In Western Bulgaria, cloudiness will be variable, and the probability of precipitation will remain relatively small – about 20–30%. Daytime temperatures will be between 25°C and 29°C. A light to moderate north and northeasterly wind will blow, most commonly 3–7 m/s.

In Eastern Bulgaria, there will be more clouds and a higher chance of brief rain showers, accompanied by thunderstorms in some places. The probability of precipitation is about 40–60%. Temperatures will reach between 25°C and 28°C, and the wind will be moderate from the northeast, temporarily with gusts up to 10–12 m/s.

Sea water temperature and swimming flag assessments do not apply to inland regions. During thunderstorm conditions, avoid open spaces, tall isolated trees, and proximity to bodies of water.

In the mountains

In the mountains, there will be variable cloudiness. In the afternoon, cumulus clouds will develop in some areas, and there will be brief rain showers with thunderstorms, with a probability of about 40–60%. At 1,200 meters, the maximum temperature will be around 18°C, and at 2,000 meters – around 12°C.

The sea water will remain at a temperature of around 25–26°C. The wind will be moderate from the northeast, with a speed of 5–8 m/s, with stronger gusts possible at times. The sea state will be 2–3 points.

The preliminary swimming assessment along the Black Sea coast is a yellow flag. Conditions can change rapidly during thunderstorm activity, so tourists should monitor the flags on the beach and the messages from lifeguards.
