Archaeological sensation in the Southern Kiten Bay

On July 15, 2026, Burgas will host an exceptional event – an academic lecture on the exploration of a sunken sailing ship, which is considered a "time capsule" from the 19th century. The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Dragomir Garbov at the "Sea Casino" Cultural Center.

"The ship Urdoviza is the best-preserved wooden sailing vessel in the shallow waters of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, with over 90% hull preservation."

The "Urdoviza" project, led by Dr. Garbov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Krum Batchvarov, brings together scientists from all over the world. The studies reveal not only the method of shipbuilding but also the daily life of the crew, who perished on the eve of the April Uprising.
