Forecast for August 8: sunny, hot, and windy by the sea

Friday, August 8, will offer classic summer weather throughout the country. Synoptic models indicate a predominantly sunny day, with maximum temperatures between 31° and 36°C and a light to moderate northeasterly wind. Precipitation is practically not expected, with the exception of local cooling showers in the northern regions towards the end of the day.

Weather in Burgas and the region

In Burgas, a daytime temperature of around 29–30°C is expected, while the minimum at night will be around 19–21°C. Data from short-term forecasts show that the day will be mostly sunny, with clouds "cloudy with clearings" in the morning and "clear" in the afternoon. The probability of precipitation remains minimal.

The sea water temperature in the Burgas area will be around 27°C, which provides very good conditions for swimming. The wind during the day will be moderate from the east and east-northeast, with a speed of about 7–8 m/s, and in the evening – about 7 m/s, also from the east.

The preliminary assessment of the conditions for safe swimming in the Burgas region is a green flag. The sea will be relatively calm, with a swell of around 2–3 degrees, but in more open areas of the coast, a slight increase in waves is possible in the afternoon.

Sofia and the region

In Sofia, the day will be sunny, with maximum temperatures around 26–28°C and minimum nighttime values around 14–16°C. The wind will be light to moderate, mainly from the southeast to northeast. In the afternoon, cumulus clouds will develop over the surrounding mountains, but precipitation is unlikely.

Eastern and Western Bulgaria

In the eastern half of the country (Northeastern and Southeastern Bulgaria), the weather will be mostly sunny, with temperatures between 32 and 35°C. A moderate to strong northeasterly wind will create a feeling of fresher air, especially along the coast.

In Western Bulgaria, maximum temperatures will be in the range of 31–34°C. According to the monthly forecast for August, around August 8–9, the passage of a cooler air mass is expected with cooling rains in the Danube Plain, but on August 8, the main scenario remains sunny and warm, with the possibility of short showers later in the night in the northern regions.

In the mountains

In the mountain regions, the day will start sunny. Cumulus clouds will develop in the afternoon, but precipitation is almost not expected. The temperature at about 1200 meters will be around 25°C, and at 2000 meters – around 17°C. The wind will be moderate from the northeast, with slightly stronger gusts possible on the ridges.

Black Sea coast

Along the coast, the weather will be sunny and windy, with pleasant air temperatures between 28 and 30°C. In the afternoon hours, a temporary increase in cloudiness is possible along the southern part of the coast, but precipitation is unlikely.

The temperature of the sea water along the entire Black Sea coast will be around 26–27°C. A moderate northeasterly wind will blow, which will create a fresh feeling, especially in combination with the sea breeze, and the sea state will reach 3–4 degrees in more open areas.

According to data from the monthly forecast for August, the rainy period for the month begins around August 7–15, but on August 8, mainly cooling rains are expected in the northern inland regions, while along the coast, the weather remains mainly dry and suitable for the beach.
