Friday, August 7, will be a typical summer day with plenty of sun and high temperatures. According to NIMH data, maximum values in most of the country will reach between 32° and 37°, with the heat being more noticeable in some western regions. In the afternoon, the development of cumulus clouds and brief thunderstorms in isolated places is expected.
Weather in Burgas and the region
In Burgas, a maximum temperature of around 29–30°C is expected, while the minimum during the night will be around 19–21°C. Data from short-term models show that the probability of precipitation during the day remains very low – close to 0%, with little cumulus cloudiness in the afternoon.
The sea water temperature in the Burgas area will be around 26–27°C, which provides comfortable conditions for swimming. The wind will blow from the northeast and east-northeast, light to moderate, with a speed of about 4–6 m/s, and may temporarily strengthen along the coast in the evening.
The preliminary assessment of conditions for safe swimming in the Burgas region is a green flag – the sea is relatively calm, and the swell is expected to be around 1–2 on the Douglas scale.
Sofia and the region
In the capital and surrounding areas, the day will be sunny, with maximum temperatures around 26–28°C and minimum nighttime values around 14–16°C. In the afternoon over the western half of the country, including around Sofia, cumulus clouds will develop, and in isolated places, brief showers and thunderstorms are possible, mainly in the mountain massifs south and west of the city.
The wind will be light to moderate from the north-northeast, with no tendency for strong gusts in urbanized areas.
Eastern and Western Bulgaria
In the eastern regions of the country (Northeastern and Southeastern Bulgaria), the day will be mostly sunny, with maximum temperatures between 32 and 34°C. Precipitation is not expected, and the wind will be moderate, temporarily strong from the northeast, especially along the coast.
In the western half of the country, temperatures will be in the range of 30–33°C, with the heat feeling more intense in the lowlands. In the afternoon and evening over Western Bulgaria, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop, and in some places – mostly in mountain areas and hot valleys – brief showers and thunderstorms are expected.
In the mountains
In the mountain massifs, sunny weather will prevail until noon, but in the afternoon, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop. In some places in the massifs in the western half of the country, there will be brief showers and thunderstorms.
The maximum temperature at an altitude of about 1200 meters will be around 25–26°C, and at 2000 meters – around 15–16°C. The wind will be moderate, blowing from the northeast, with brief stronger gusts possible during thunderstorms.
The Black Sea coast
Along the Black Sea coast on August 7, it will be mostly sunny, with temporary increases in cloudiness in the afternoon, without significant probability of precipitation. Maximum temperatures along the coast will be between 27 and 30°C.
The sea water temperature along the entire coast will remain around 26–27°C. The wind regime will be moderate, temporarily strong, from the east-northeast, and the sea state will be around 2–3 on the Douglas scale, with more noticeable waves in exposed sections of the shore.
According to preliminary assessments, conditions for safe swimming along the Southern Black Sea coast will be marked primarily with a green flag, though on more exposed beaches, a yellow flag may be introduced as a preventive measure if the wind strengthens.
