In response to an inquiry from Vazrazhdane MP Tsoncho Ganev during the parliamentary blitz control, Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov accused the parliamentary group of "boundless populism." He added that Bulgarian voters had already delivered their verdict on the party's behavior in the last elections.

Regarding the economic situation, Pekanov emphasized that although some of the administrative and regulatory measures taken so far have not produced the desired effect, others have been successful. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the need to strengthen the work of regulatory bodies. Despite these efforts, however, he clarified that our country functions as a market economy, which makes it impossible to fully control price pressures. Geopolitical processes and volatility in oil prices were cited as objective factors that do not depend entirely on government actions.

"The inflation processes in the country that we have been observing since the beginning of the year are alarming, and it is no coincidence that the cabinet stated in its very first weeks that curbing it is a top priority," Pekanov declared. He assured that the executive branch intervenes wherever such a mechanism exists, and stressed that the commitment to fighting inflation will remain a priority throughout the autumn period.

During his address, the Deputy Prime Minister also touched upon the country's budgetary policy. He noted that Bulgaria maintains annual consultations regarding its budget with the European Commission, clarifying that this process takes place regardless of whether the state is in the process of joining the Eurozone or not.
