In a post on his personal Facebook profile, Burgas District Prosecutor Georgi Chinev highlighted the city's role as a hub for successful operations against the criminal underworld. His statement was prompted by the seizure of a large drug shipment hidden in a truck at the entrance to Burgas. The magistrate described the situation by stating that Burgas is "once again producing good news today in the fight against crime."

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev announced that law enforcement had seized hundreds of kilograms of marijuana and cocaine. Chinev took the opportunity to praise the teamwork of the institutions: "A powerful blow against drug trafficking has been dealt in Burgas. This is how we must work to restore public trust," the prosecutor asserted.

In addition to the disrupted drug trafficking operation, Chinev emphasized another significant development within the judicial system. This concerns the ruling by the Burgas Appellate Court, which upheld the criminal liability of Syrian national Omar Adnan. For the murder of the two police officers, Yordan Iliev and Atanas Gradev, the court imposed the most severe sentence provided by law — "life imprisonment."
