The National Academy of Art (NAA) – Burgas Branch offers new opportunities for creative and professional development through its "Photography" master's degree program. The application period for the program is set from September 1 to September 10, 2026.

The aim of the training is to build a solid theoretical foundation and practical skills that cover the language, aesthetics, and technical specifics of the photographic image. The program pays special attention to the significant role of photography in the context of contemporary art, examining its development both in Bulgaria and on the international stage.

The curriculum is intensive and combines a variety of teaching methods:

  • Lecture courses and in-depth discussions;
  • Practical sessions, workshops, and work on short art projects;
  • Meetings with guest lecturers and individual consultations with students.
Students work with modern technical equipment, which gives them the freedom to realize their ideas and original projects at a high professional level.

A key strength of the program is the opportunity to combine classical and contemporary photographic technologies. The learning environment is multidisciplinary and encourages interaction between fine arts, photo installation, experimental film, and video art. Students have the opportunity to actively participate in exhibitions, summer academies, creative workshops, and research projects of the NAA.

During the second year of study, the focus shifts to the preparation of a thesis project. It is developed under the mentorship of a leading tenured professor and is presented for defense at the end of the third semester. Students acquire critical thinking skills, which they use to analyze cultural and social processes in art.
