Official sources from Romanian border services reported an intensive search for a suspected black predator that potentially entered from Bulgarian territory. The incident was registered in the critical border zone near the Danube River.
On June 29, 2025, two consecutive signals were received on the national emergency call number 112. The initial message was sent at 15:55 from the area of Puyeni settlement, where unclear traces of a large animal were noticed. The second information came during the night hours between June 29 and 30, localizing a potential predator near the river bank at Istru settlement.
Despite the lack of definitive physical evidence, local authorities took immediate preventive measures. National border teams increased patrolling and distributed warnings to the population to exercise extreme caution.
Experts link the current case with similar unidentified signals from the Ruse region during the past month. Interagency teams from Bulgaria and Romania continue their joint observations and checks, trying to establish the origin and nature of the mysterious predator.
At the moment, no official direct visual evidence such as photographic or video material has been registered, which further intensifies the intrigue surrounding the events in the border region.
