The Bulgarian government has approved the draft 2027 budget, its press office said. Bulgaria has also drawn up a draft budget plan, which it prepared as a eurozone member under EU rules.
The plan sets out the main budget figures for 2027. It follows the Public Finance Act and Bulgaria's National Medium-Term Fiscal-Structural Plan for 2025-2028. It is also a report on the steps the country is taking to cut its excessive deficit.
Every eurozone country has to draw up such a plan under EU Regulation No 473/2013. The regulation lets the European Commission and the Council monitor euro countries more closely than other EU members.
In their review, the two bodies assess the budget decisions and structural reforms each country plans for the next year. The aim is to keep the common currency stable, help economies withstand shocks and bring euro countries closer together.
